FAQs

What is ACNE?

Acne is a skin condition that can often be inherited from your parents. It is an issue of the skin cells that line the pore shedding too quickly for the body to get rid of them. As the skin cells build up deep in the pores combining with oil production they form a congestion that turns into a pimple over time. Sometimes it’s just a black or whitehead, or sometimes it may be cystic as well. Either way, it is genetically determined whether your pores will function properly.

What to expect on your first appointment?

Depending on clients skin and acne condition, we do various services from chemical peels, enzymatic peels, or even just put clients on products to start off with. If any services are performed, expect skin to be pink/red (depending on clients skin) and even a little swollen for some clients.

What makes this program successful?

Our system works by taking into account the type of acne you have, the type of skin you have and how fast your skin adapts to products. We keep pushing the skin to clear with products that penetrate the pore where acne starts. We don’t push it past its tolerance however, because we don’t want your skin dry and irritated. The products prevent the new acne lesions from forming; we extract the existing acne lesions out and in about three months your acne is under control.

When will I begin to see results?

Depending on the nature of your acne it may take anywhere from one month to three or four months to see a result. If you do your home care exactly like we tell you to and come in every two weeks for a treatment you will most likely be clear in about three to four months.

Do I need to use/buy products?

Yes. Often times the skin care products you are currently using are making your condition worse as they contain ingredients in them that may clog your pores or even aggravate your acne.

Currently using prescription med for ACNE, can I still get treatment?

No. We require you to stop your prescription products at least 2 weeks prior to getting of our acne treatments. We have found that they make the skin much too sensitive to use our system. Therefore we generally do not recommend the use of any of them with our regimen.

Is it okay for me to pick my pimple/face?

No! Think of pimples as a little sack filled with oils, debris and acne bacteria. By picking at it you can force the debris and bacteria even deeper into your skin. You may also introduce new kinds of bacteria from your finger into the zit. That can cause the pimple to become more red, inflamed, swollen and infected, and may even lead to permanent scarring.

Why should someone choose a licensed esthetician, specializing in ACNE treatment?

Our estheticians are acne certified, which means we have been properly educated and trained on how acne works and what we need to do to help our clients deal with this horrible skin condition. We have the patience and take our time with each and every client when performing their extractions as we understand is a big part in helping to get them clear.
